    My point entirely, mate.

No , good point, if it introduces WW2 to a new generation then that got to be a good thing.

Funny you mentioning that...I was thinking that the trend of usernames like Easy Company and Lt. Winters was drying up.

Anyone care to predict the next batch of usernames?

I'm thinking we'll see a few PFC Leckie, Sledge, Basilone, 'Chuckler' or Lt Col. Lewis 'Chesty' Puller ;)

So, what's your first impression of "The Pacific"? I expect something more "anti-war". When I saw Guadalcanal Island I started to compar this to "The Thin, Red Line".

    marcus69x I love WW2 meah!!!

I'm confused. I registered on the HBO site, tried out the Pacific to see what the quality was like, and it was good. It worked.

Went to watch it yesterday and now it says the video won't play in my region.

But it did the day before??

Yeah it's a shame, Marcus. When I tried to view it the second time I received the same message. Apparently being able to watch it at the website as a non US resident was an error, thus they changed it to US residents only. I have no idea why they did that though :(

The feeling for us is "underwhelming" about the whole thing. It is well made, and the actors are dong a great job, but so far it is not on par with the BoB. Possibly that mini-series ruined it for us in a sense, and maybe we were expecting too much from it as well. BoB was a hard act to follow, and looks like it will continue to be for some time to come. I'm still waiting for it to pick up though....

Don't think it's fair to compare although unavoidable. The whole thing hasn't been shown yet either. I'm learning loads.
I'm off to drop the kids off at the pool!

Have a nice sh*t mate?

Although I still haven't seen any episodes yet, I agree we shouldn't be looking to compare too much, although as Gage said, It's unavoidable.

I reckon once we've watched the whole series a few times, we'll love it just as much. :)

Why did they go over the side of the Buffalo & not drop the rear ramp?

The ones used early in the war by the Americans did not have rear ramps (version 4 had the ramp I believe).

All the ones I saw in the Solomon's did not have rear ramps, there are about a dozen at Tetere south of Honiara, just of the beach. I did have photos but now gone.

blacksnake As old as I feel.

As we all know, BoB set the bar very high. Lets just hope it's not too high and Pacific can live up to the hype. We've only had the first two episodes shown here (resisting the urge to view on-line) and a couple of aspects such as a lack of character building have slightly disappointed. But it's early days yet and I'm sure it'll grow to be a legend in its own right.

I agree the character building was the main point that disappointed me, but i reckon that will all be done in the next episodes. So im not going to make my mind up on it until i have seen all the episodes. Regardless of that, the first episodes were still really good, and have no doubt the thing as a whole will be an amazing series.

And I found out the other day some of it was filmed at a place which is on my travelling route which im going of in a few weeks
