    Hi Geoff,

I thought you was asking about what Bradley AFV I had then (I've just got up)

I have the Austrailian version of ANZAC's and the Odd Angry Shot too. :)

    Cheers
    Andy

    No joke.

The US cut the Australian version down to less than 2 hours. No wonder they did not understand it.

I doubt whether they would have laughed at the Odd Angry Shot either.

They were simply knockabout lads in both.

I would have loved to be a fly on the wall when the Aussies hit Cairo/Alexandria in WW1 on R&R.

    Sos...I was still asleep mate.

I don't think they'd get the Aussie humour in the Odd Angry Shot, especially the fight between the scorpion and spider

ANZAC's is a great mini-series though that is for sure and on WW1 to boot. Probably the only one made on WW1 me thinks.

    Cheers

Wonder what battles will this mini-series cover.

Is there a unit, which got through most of the major battles in Pacific War?

I think we can make good mini-series in the UK - Dunkirk for example. But it would be really good to have a mini-saga following one unit as in Band of Brothers across the war, but from a British perspective(I can hear the groans from our Colonial Friends - sorry, but you did have that excellent ANZACS series a few years back). How about following a fighter or bomber squadron, the crew of a corvette or destroyer or an army unit (so many to choose from) from 1939 - 1946. The possibilities are endless, just needs to be well written
There will be no groans from your Colonial Friends/Cousins across the pond/Septics/Yanks/etc., if the British Film industry got off their a$$'s and made a good shoot'em up featuring a British/Commonwealth unit. Too often Hollywood gets "too Hollywood" with their productions, ie, taking what they call "creative license" to change things around TOO MUCH to make what they deem a better story and to make it seem that what they portrayed in the movie actually happened as opposed to the truth. I don't care for that either, so I'm with y'all on that all the way.

I think that Dunkirk would be an excellent choice for that matter. It could be an epic movie with so many points of interest from that campaign, depending on the chosen scope of movie. The Battle of Britain was a great picture, so I don't see a need to re-make that one. Something about the fighting in Hong Kong or Singapore would be welcomed. Crete would be good too, or any of the 8th Army campaigns in North Africa. Too many choices to choose from.

No, I don't think that you will hear any complaints from us....There are never enough good war movies.

Another huge warping of the history books to follow as well.
Be wary of what you wish for.

Thats true. That happens quite alot. I dont like Flags of our Fathers, Letters from Iwo Jima is better. Sorry. Ranting. Need to wake up, or sleep... Sitting in the dark, listening to "Disturbed" dosent help much... -_-

I agree with you regarding Letters from Iwo Jima being a lot better...

You could really understand the fears of the troops trapped in the caves....

I could not get into the Flags for our fathers...but did feel for the Indian guy....

Wind-talkers was a good film though with Nicolas Cage.....about the Navajo Indians and their code....

Letters from Iwo Jima was good even if it did pinch the "buried mysterious package" scenes at the beginning and end from the Korean film "Brotherhood".

"Flags... " was good but far too much concentrated on civvy street for me.

However combined they're a fascinating development, i.e: the idea of making two films, one from either side, if you're going to the bother of making one.

"Wind Talkers" had legs but Cage's range of three expressions and his inability to act his way out of wet paper bag ruined it to my eyes.

Personally, The Pacific hasn't captured me in the same way as Band of Brothers had done. Maybe I have to give it a watch to get into it but so far I am not impressed. Perhaps it's just "Hollywood fatigue", perhaps if the enemy they are fighting is given a "face" it would make things more interesting?

I have to say that Band of brothers will take some beating.
