    No I was saying that it was good to see that there is more to WW2 than just combat.
    It was good that they had an episode where marines aren't fighting any Japanese for a whole 56 minutes.

    Too right , 3 episodes to cover Peleliu , a battle I'd never heard of.
    (Yes I know it's been mentioned on the forum but it's never registered with my brain.)

    Just watched episode where Basilone gets married & then killed .
    Brutal beach landing scenes. Nasty.

    Wish I'd watched this years ago but maybe I'm paying more attention to it now.

    Recently rewatched Band of Brothers on the new telly, Pacific is next up as Firefly is out on loan, and quite looking forward to it now as it will only be my second time.

    Owen, your posts here and over at WW2F have convinced me to watch it again. Now...to find the time.

    We plan on watching Gone With the Wind this weekend, as I will be traveling through and stopping in Clayton County, Georgia next week while on our way to the 30th ID reunion in Savannah. Mr. Marion and I will be stopping in to visit with the son of soldier that Mr. Marion greatly respected and was killed in Belgium in 2 September, 1944. The son is now about 70 years old and has no recollections of his father, as he was a toddler when his father was killed.

    Years have passed, but for the views (in their own words) of just some of the chaps who were featured in the series seek out the dvd here;

    What is the last WW2 Film or Series you saw?

    Hopefully it's still available in/from the States.

    Plus, for an interview recorded many years later by "Burgy" (R V Burgin) see below.

    Kind regards, always,

    Jim.

    1st To Fight: Pacific War Marines is showing on PBS America on Tuesday 10 August at 8.45pm and repeats at other times after that. Think I’ll definitely be watching that.

    1st to Fight: Pacific War Marines | PBS America | UK

    It’s the story of the 1st Marine Division and is narrated by Jon Seda, who played John Basilone in the TV series.
