    I have to wonder whether the institution has been forward-thinking or hide-bound. Over 267 years it has seen a lot of changes in warfare, tactics and equipment!

    I think the oldest Military Academy still in existence is the Military Academy of Modena founded 1678.

    Modena, it seems, was and is used not only for officers training. Vienna in 1751 was meant for officers only.
