26th January 2017 will be the 75th Anniversary of the (Official) arrival United States Armed Forces in the United Kingdom.
Private Milburn Henke was the first Soldier to set foot in Belfast.
This is the Official date because lots of Personnel had arrived previously and were involved in constructing various Bases including Lockheed Overseas Corporation folks who were already at Langford Lodge.
A total of around 300,000 American Forces eventually arrived in Belfast from where they moved to various locations throughout Northern Ireland for Training prior to the Invasion of Normandy in "Operation Overlord"

TNA War diaries for various Western Command staff and US Service of Supply staff on Fold 3 indicate many British Army camps in Cheshire were taken over in late summer until December 1942 by US troops. These may not be front line troops as the well known divisions were never based in Cheshire as far as I can determine. Does anyone have any knowledge of who, in fact, these troops were and which locations in Cheshire they were based at? Thank you

    RAF Burtonwood - Wikipedia

Royal Air Force Burtonwood or more simply RAF Burtonwood is a former Royal Air Force station 2 miles (3.2 km) northwest of Warrington, Cheshire (formerly in Lancashire), England. It was also known as USAAF station 590.

The facility was transferred to the United States Army Air Forces in June 1942 to become a servicing centre for the United States Eighth, Ninth, Twelfth and Fifteenth Air Forces aircraft. Burtonwood was also known as Base Air Depot 1 (BAD 1), although an RAF presence continued until October 1943.

    Its a start
