For a project I'm currently involved with I'm looking copies of "The Oak" which was produced weekly by the 46th Division for members of the division.

The IWM have some copies but due to renovation work they are unable to gain access to them and frustratingly they don't know when they will be available for viewing.

I know this is a big ask but, if any of you have any copies of the said publication please get in contact with me.

According to our catalogue, we have the following issues in our archive: 1943/11/09, 1943/11/13, 1943/12/28, 1944/03/04, 1944/12/25, 1945/06/25 and 1945/07/18. I suspect they are originals, but there's a chance they could be copies, and they may not be complete; I will check tomorrow when I'm there. We may also have others (only a small part of our holdings is on the computer catalogue) so I'll check the paper catalogue as well (although it is somewhat 'patchy').

We are located near Wetherby in West Yorkshire; if you decide to visit, you will need to make an appointment; you can find out about us by following the URL in my sig.

    Hi,
Managed to find my copy - there is a reference to a Hampshires Battalion but not sure if its the 5th its in a general write up on the DIvision

    "FRANCE, BRITAIN, AFRICA

    .................

Before the end of the North Africa campaign it was in the big offensive and opened up the Massicault road so That armoured forces could go through to Tunis.

In this campaign, as in Italy, the Divisional Artillery had many fine achievments to its credits. The epic battle of Sidi Nsir on 26 Feb 1943, when 155 Field Battery RA fought to the end with a Battalion of the Hampshires and destroed several tanks before he position was over-run, is now well known."

A quick google seems to show it was 5th HAmpshires - I'll post up a picture of the article - but there isnt really anything more.

    Cheers
