    Newspaper report from the Western Daily Press - Saturday 09 September 1939

    During the "black out on Thursday night , Corporal Joseph Marsh(28) , of the Lincolnshire Regiment. walked over a parapet at the Verne Citadel,Portland. and fell 50ft into the moat. He died of a broken neck.
    A verdict of death by misadventure was recorded at the inquest.
