"The first casualty and following casualties are amongst 144 casualties suffered by 2 Lincolns on the 14th October 1944, of which 26 were killed and are now buried at Overloon War Cemetery.

Their deaths occurred during a major battle to capture Overloon. The area was heavily defended by the Germans and sown with a huge number of mines. The weather and conditions also caused heavy casualties amongst the flail tanks supporting the advance.

4 Lincolns also experienced the use of mines sown by the Germans. "
