I keep seeing bits of this recent Russian film on obscure digital channels as I'm flicking through trying to find something that isn't CSI or Most Haunted. I've only managed to watch about 1/2 hour all told. Potentially it is an interesting subject. It is an odd combination of a big budget action spectacular, based on real events, and an amateurish, poorly-edited and acted production. From what I've gleaned from the web, it seems to have started out as a Russian TV mini-series made as recently as 2006, although stylistically it harks back to bad Anglo-American 'B' movies of the 1960's, like 'Tobruk' or 'Mosquito Squadron', with more graphic violence. Has anyone watched it in its entirety? I don't think that I've ever seen a real Russian World War II film before!

    Looks entertaining:
    KinoKultura
At the rather less sharp end than Klimov's 'Come & See' perhaps.

Haven't seen this movie but can't really understand those modern russian fimls about Great Patriotic War (except a few of 'em) ;) I can't take 'em serious...
