Pouring a cheese sauce over and grilling seemed to cover a multitude of culinary atrocities. Fortunately Gran lived in the country so we used to get things like home cured bacon, a hare or two etc from time to time.
Strange how rationing continues to haunt.As a child in the 1950s, I broke an egg and my mother was exceedingly cross with me. Years later, I shudder if I ever drop one, and wait for the telling off.
