Apologies if this has already been posted, but this deserves a wider audience anyway.
The Home Front Legacy Project is scheduled to run from 2014-18, and is like the Defence of Britain Project, but on a larger scale and solely designed to record surviving WW1 sites in the British Isles.
Not just military, but also civilian sites are recorded (there are around 9600 so far), and the team of researchers are always looking for new people to bring their own knowledge and expertise.
There are still many, many sites which need to be recorded for posterity, and a full "how to" guide is provided on the homepage.
