The Hertfordshire Regiment 1st Battalions ww2 /Any veterans left

    hi all im new to forum
    I am trying to find out if there is anyway of contacting or locating anyone from the The Hertfordshire Regiment 1st Battalion ww2
    as that was where my grandad was i believe he 1st joined the beds & herts before going to The Hertfordshire Regiment 1st Battalion he is 90 years old now and the storys i have heard are ,immense he was the company runner and i read that the life expectency of a runner was 7 days to my amazement he done this for 16 months he joined aprox 1941 to 1948 tryed putting his service number in on line but cant seem to find any records nor did he collect his medals I would like to find as many people as i can just so he could try and arange contact if possible anybody who has any idea on how i can go about this i would really appreciate this and i know my granddad will also
