Thank you Adam for kindly giving me permission to post as below:-

With the full support from Veterans of the Glider Pilot Regiment, their families and friends and other interested parties, the launch of a new Glider Pilot Regiment Society took place at the beginning of January 2017. Full GPR Society details, including future projects, can be seen by following the link below.

    Glider Pilot Regiment Society

The Glider Pilot Regiment Society of Family, Heritage and Remembrance has been set up following the winding down of the Glider Pilot Regimental Association (GPRA). The Society is not intended to replace the GPRA but rather to celebrate the history of the regiment and provide a means of contact for Glider Pilots and their relatives.

The objective of the society is to preserve and promote the heritage of The Glider Pilot Regiment through education and engagement and create a network for veterans of the Glider Pilot Regiment and their families to engage with one another for the purposes of remembrance and community.

Preserve the heritage of the Glider Pilot Regiment and its activities during WWII and in post war years.

Promote the heritage of the GPR to the general public through engagement with media and educational institutes.

To assist family members of Glider Pilots understand what the role and activities of their relatives and the GPR through research and sharing of information.

Establish a network for Glider Pilot Veterans, their relatives and those who support the work of the society.

A team of volunteers, including myself, are all contributing towards this new venture, helping to ensure that this short lived, elite WW2 Regiment, will never be forgotten.

Thank you for taking the time to read this post and if anyone has any queries or is interested to know more, please don’t hesitate to contact the GPR Society via the link shown above.

    With kind regards,
    Lindsay
