One night after watching Collateral I checked ou t the bios of all the charecters of the movie. When I read about the director, I read about his new moive coming out in 2006 or 2007 about the Battle of Britian. The title of the movie is going to be "The Few" which comes from Churchill's famous speech about the RAF. I was wondering if anyone had some info about this movie and could share it.

Hit'em hard and hit'em fast till they hope you don't come back!

    Hey

Thunderbolt, haven't heard anything to date will continue to keep an eye as saying goes. I have heard about two other movies re: WW2 in the works, first is based on the Bataan Survivors, American and British POW's and attempted rescue by 6th Ranger Battalion, believe working title was "The Great Raid" based on book, "Ghost Soldiers"..... The second movie involves collaboration between Steven Spielberg and Clint Eastwood,(Directing), re: book, "Flags of Our Fathers", working title for movie possibly "Heroes of Iwo Jima". Any how a general search of internet should produce results re: both.

    Later, Blacksheep

Tom Cruise is supposed to play Dick Fiske, one of the seven Americans who went over to fight the Battle. In real life, Fiske was killed on his first or second mission. I suppose in the movie, he will singlehandedly win the battle, and the British pilots will either be cowards or effete snobs who nearly lose the battle, knowing Hollywood.

[/b]And there will be an Asian bombshell played by Lucy Liu who trains the pilots in martial arts. The final battle will be when Cruise leads the squadron in a daring attack on the main enemy base in their F-14 jet fighters, as Lord Darth Vader and his Imperial Stormtroopers attack the Planet Endor and its super-cute Ewoks and their incredibly low-priced ($19.95, batteries not included) Ewoks Super Tree Hut Homes, all part of Mattel's sponsorship tie-in with Burger King...what a realistic depiction of history!

Come off it! now you are flying off on flights of fantasy! :D :D

But there is also, Jock "Scottie" MacTavish from county Clare, judging by his accent. Mel Gibson, who will be wearing woad, will play this part.

before the final battle, FDR, will climb onto the wing of a F14 and give a speech about defending American Liberty and their way of life from the nasty Germans.

No, Mel Gibson will give the speech from the wing of the F-14, and it will be about fighting Iraqi terrorists, evil landlords who want to grab the schoolmarm's ranch, and King Edward I. Diane Lane will play the widowed (but hot) schoolmarm who competes for the affections of Mel Gibson with Jennifer Love Hewitt, who plays the hooker with a heart of gold. The center of the Nazi-Iraqi-space alien plot will be to bring Longshanks back to life, so he can reclaim the Throne of Scotland and custody of the little girl whose tattoos are the map to the Ark of the Covenant. To prevent them from bringing Longshanks to life, Gibson will use Haley Joel Osment, who sees "Dead People."

No, Mel Gibson will give the speech from the wing of the F-14,

I think it would be better with FDR, who according to the script won the Congressional medal of honour for flying "wild weasel" missions over North Vietnamese positions in Flanders in WWI.

In addition, Sandra Bullock will play the squadron Provost Marshal. Kelly Mcgillis will play the squadron psychiatrist who berates the squadron Commander played by Samuel L Jackson for driving the men to their limits. Liv Tyler will be the adjutant! Helena Bonham Carter will play the WAAF who stands at the Ops Room door waiting for her boyfriend to come back from the mission. The females will be wearing ……. I think the bromine they put in the tea is starting to wear off!

George Clooney will play the medic who is an alcoholic caused by him having to patch pilots up and send back onto combat missions again. Steven Seagal will be the local eco warrior who is angst ridden a about the pollution the war is creating.

Don't forget Matthew McGonaughey as the "kid who's too young to die" who gets killed anyway. And his girlfriend is the one played by Helena Bonham Carter. We also have to have Faith Ford as the charming but naive female nurse who gets killed after accepting a wedding proposal from an equally charming but naive pilot played by Leonardo DiCaprio. Rosie O'Donnell plays the brassy but funny WAC from Hoboken who's a bit of a floozie, while Ally Walker plays the brainy and possibly lesbian WAC.

Hold on guys! If Mel Gibson's in it won't the Brits really be on the side of Hitler and the RAF really the Luftwaffe in disguise. Of course this will only be found out when Sylvester Stallone swims the North Atlantic, forces a U-Boat to surface singlehandely armed only with a Bowie knife and captures an Enigma, the ciphers and a rescues some captured Americans being taken to a secret base in Antartica......

I think I need to lie down in a darkened room now :D

to make it authentic, Dame Judie dench will play "Stuffy" Dowding. Alan Rickman will play the evil "Herr Von Goring" and Brian Blessed will play the RAF Early warning System!

Amanda Donahue will play the station "bike". Cate Blanchet will play the elven princess who as head of Air-sea Rescue races to rescue downed pilots and save them from the evil orks sent by Herr Von Goring.

Tony Blair will appear as himself to claim that it was he arranged to let Fighter command have RADAR, the Spitfire, the Hurricane and that Hitler had WMD which he could launch within 45 min. a bit of political satire there!

Alexadra Paul will play the station PTI, who waves off the the pilots!

a bunch lovlies in skimpy bikinis will play the jolly cockney groundscrews.

I recall a big 'hoo-hah' after this story broke about Holywood re-writing history which was having a massive impact, certainly on American children's understanding of WW2.

being serious for a moment, that is a very good article. it is a pity that people have to distort what is a very important topic.

Presumably, Amanda Donohoe will be the "bike" because everyone, including Salma Hayek, has a good ride on her. Of course, she will actually have a heart of gold. She will befriend the virginal Alexandra Paul. But didn't we see the babes in bikinis in an air picture before? Oh, yes, "Pappy's lambs" in "The Black Sheep Squadron." The nurses who...uh....supported VMF-214. It was amazing how those girls of 1943 all had 1970s Farrah Fawcett hairstyles.

Vin diesel will play the CofE padre who in an attempt to take the pilots minds off the horrors of war, organizes Tea dances, whist drives and organ recitals.

At nights he suffers from terrible insommina causes by his unrequite love for the squadron CO! :D :D
