The Fall of Singapore - 15 February 1942

A favorite subject, coming from my growing up in Singapore when I was 7-10 years old in 1993-1997. I have been there many times since and they are good at nurturing their historical heritage. For those going there I can recommend Fort Siloso on Sentosa island and The Battle Box in the beautiful Fort Canning Park. Many of the troops fighting were Malay, Indian and Australian. The battle itself was very dramatic and one of the most fatal in British Military history, should be made a movie about it.
