Ring any bells with anyone here? It's a book I was lent about a decade ago. Starts off about " The Ice Man " and " The Fire Man ", floating about in their respective dinghy's, somewhere in the North Sea. Weird sort of style, till ye get the hang of it. Keeps giving the time. Like; " 02:14 Hrs. (Someone of German rank) trudged through the snow at (Some place on a Norwegian fjord) breathing in the crisp, clean night air. " Then it might mention, " 04:17 Hrs. The Landing Craft slipped unseen into the fjord at ..... " Then there'd be an earlier hour again and someone else doing something quite unrelated. Meanwhile, the Ice Man was bobbing about on the North Sea. Strange. But it all started coming together and soon had me hooked. Basically turned out to be a riveting story about ..... well; A Dawn Raid! British Forces attacking a German base in Norway. By the time it all hits the fan, ye see how ye've very cleverly been told all these disparate peoples stories in the lead up to how their fates entwine in this coming action. Never read a book quite like it before or since. Anyone else remember that one?
