Guy gets beheaded in a horrific auto accident. The Death Certificate makes no mention of the crash. Cause of Death is listed as Decapitation. No, it doesn't work that way with Covid either. Anyway, for the US audience, please respect others and wear a mask when you are around other people. It's not that hard. It can even be fun if you do it right. This one gets lots of smiles and comments from children and the ladies.
And yet stats show that the BAME communities in Britain and the USA are more likely to die of it. There's an awful lot we don't understand about this pandemic.
Poor ventilation and the proximity of others in living and work places seems to have a connection to outbreaks. Masks and a fan in an open widow allow us to be safe when my grandkids visit. That and we have formed a Pandemic Pod for safe socialization. The Essential Step-by-Step Guide to Forming a Pod During a Pandemic
Poe originally published the following tale under the title of The Mask of the Red Death but Mask was later changed to Masque. A case of masks and pods not working? The Project Gutenberg E-text of The Masque of the Red Death, by Edgar Allan Poe
Aaaah, the good old "PPC" (Panaché Pour Covid) Go steady on the bière content Rich (unless it's La Kro of course!) Keep well, kind regards, always, Jim.
Cheers, Chaps...not beer, actually my last bottle of Cidre brought back from Normandy last June. Scrubbing dustbins always makes me thirsty The glass is a 1930s GR marked ten-sider. I like to include a little historical content.
Well given it's cidre Rich your eyesight is likely approaching my (low!) level. Nevertheless, an apple a day and all that. Cheers m'dear, Jim.
Coronapocalypse in Holland " ... a pandemic with no end date" Weekly update (week 29 Sept - 6 Aug): In Holland the number of people with established COVID-19 is still on the rise - which resulted in further social restrictions, not only in western Holland. Last week 27.485 new individuals tested positive for COVID-19, which is 8.159 more than a week before. The R-factor is 1,27. In the past week 803 patients have been hospitalized for COVID-19 (again a growth in numbers; last week stood at 502); 89 people died of COVID (was 33). Meanwhile it is also clear that the disease for young people is by no means the innocent flu that activists like to make of it. Many, also young patients, even after a mild Covid infection, still suffer with debilitating and chronic complaints such as extreme fatigue, headache, shortness of breath, chest pain and heart disease. Some suffer from memory loss and loss of concentration ability. Numbers now are: week 1 - 7 July: 19 new deaths, total now 6.132; number of confirmed cases 50.705 week 8 - 14 July: 8 deaths, total now 6.140; number of confirmed cases 51.239 week 14 - 21 July: 7 deaths, total now 6.147; number of confirmed cases 52.226 week 21 - 28 July: 9 deaths, total bow 6.156; number of confirmed cases 53.555 week 28 July - 4 Aug: 6 deaths, total now 6.162; number of confirmed cases 56.143 week 5 - 11 Aug: 9 deaths, total now 6.171; number of confirmed cases 60.179 week 11 - 18 Aug: 16 deaths, total now 6.187; number of confirmed cases 64.192 week 18 - 25 Aug: 32 deaths, total now 6.219; number of confirmed cases 67.780. week 26 Aug - 1 Sept: 24 deaths, total now 6.234; number of conformed cases 71.359. week 2 - 8 Sept: 17 deaths, total now 6.251; number of confirmed cases 76.786. week 8 - 15 Sept: 14 deaths, total now 6.265; number of confirmed cases 85.051. week 15 - 22 Sept: 33 deaths, total now 6298; number of confirmed cases 98.468 week 22 - 29 Sept: 102 deaths, total now 6400; number of confirmed cases 117.795 week 29 Sept - 6 Oct: 89 deaths, total now 6489; number of confirmed cases 145.280 For comparison the (official) mortality rate caused by Covid per million of inhabitants: (based on the deaths registered by the John Hopkins University) Belgium (11,4 mln) with 10.078 deaths, it is 884,04 Spain (46,7 mln), with 32.225 deaths, is 690,04 USA (327,2 mln) with 210.195 deaths, it is 642,41 UK (66,5 mln) this number, with 42.459 deaths, is 638,48 Italy (60,4 mln) with 36.002 deaths, the number is 596,06 Sweden (10,2 mln) with 5.883 deaths is 576,77 France (67,0 mln) with 32.317 deaths, is 482,34 Holland (17,2 mln) with 6.489 deaths, it now is 377,27 Canada (37,1 mln) with 9.560 deaths is 257,68 Germany (82,9 mln) with 9.550 deaths is 115,20 Population numbers (courtesy SteveDee) Coronavirus deaths per million by country 2020 | Statista. Some countries - like Belgium - include suspected Covid deaths that were not tested. The official corona mortality of various countries is therefore less comparable. Belgium still is the relatively hardest hit country in Europe and maybe world-wide (a sky-high death rate of 884+ per million inhabitants) - but Belgium has been very strict with itself. It counts not only deaths after a positive test, but also of those who showed symptoms that indicate the virus; something other countries often don't do, which embellishes their statistics. Spain and the USA make a good second and third. The rates in Sweden, the only country in Europe that gambled for group immunity and decided not to lock down, are now slowly approaching the Italian rate. Germany, where the virus spread at the same time as in Holland, is doing extremely well. The country has a more disciplined population and does a lot of testing, contact tracing and isolating.
Looking at a photo of a Marine at the White House today one is struck by how naff the Covid mask looks. https://ichef.bbci.co.uk/news/320/c...8852_f8515aee-a7a2-44fd-b414-25c6f0b18058.jpg Surely after this time someone could have come up with a better looking design whilst maintaining the functionality? Take a look at Star Wars! Perhaps a better looking design might increase the take up? Perhaps different between civil and military.
I just ordered my mask for the Fall/Winter Covid season. My dad was in the FSSF "DAS DICKE ENDE IOMMAT NOCHT" THE WORST IS YET TO COME
It is entirely possible that surviving deadly combat may have had the effect of lowering ones normal standards for female company!
... more a matter of supply and demand ... depleted stocks? Mind you, all of the Canadian Army eventually ended up in Holland ...
