been watching the cat saves boy video over and over today, shame the dog was put down and not its owner. :GDamn:

They were lucky to have all the camera angles covered for the video.

Or had they had problems before? The Mother certainly knew where to go, leaving the boy to be looked after by the cat.

On closer examination, i'm sure that moggy is catapulted at the dog!

I do agree the owners should be put down as l am not sure how you recover a dog from that behaviour without a lot of care, but even then trust would always be an issue.

    I would say that's a standard 7kg cat launch at a potential prey/enemy
I have one just like that

Lol, happened once with a big ginger tom when we were out walking attacked my 2 labs because they put their nose in his garden. My Labs jumped and ran behind me.

So he had a go at my terrier as everything else was running away. Not a sensible move.

    Same story, different characters!!!!

I agree, I have one just like that too, recently saw off a red setter and its owner the other day, when she dashed from the front door to the end of the drive and pursued them down the cul-de-sac. She even growls when anyone approaches the front door. Some cats don't need any encouragement to defend their territory.

I've seen this type of behaviour from a few of our cats over the years. One of our dogs would chase away other cats from its territory, leaving its pal the cat to do the same for strange dogs.

Red Setter does not work as they are soft, same as labs. I would trust my labs over any cat, my boys have the scares to prove it. Lets say my terrier recently saw off a moggie and its owner the other day, when she dashed from the front door to the end of the drive and pursued them down the cul-de-sac. The terrier even growls when anyone approaches the front door. Some dogs don't need any encouragement to defend their territory.

    'Your dogs out of control!'

How odd, I never said that.

Dog / cat. Mmm, guess I know which one I'd be more afraid of if one came tearing up to me - that's any dog off the leash - the so-called Dangerous Dog Act has a lot to answer for. (And I repeat, we've owned dogs over the years, never 'one or the other' for me.)

    Ladies and Gentlemen,

I do not condone any animal chasing another and its owner up the cul-de-sac, especially a soppy Red Setter. Just imagine how the little old lady/Gentleman felt, trying to protect her/his dog who could not get away because it was on a leash.

I equally do not agree with the Dangerous Dog act which should be replaced by the dangerous owner act as we have seen recently. Can you tell the difference between a pitbull cross and another dog as we see too often on our streets, not to say that he/ she is not a very good dog under control.

So, is it ok for a cat to attack a dog at the end of the drive?

Oh dear. Chase is not attack, 'saw off' is what I said and by that I meant run up, stand ground. Attack suggests something entirely different.

Little old lady/gentleman, where'd that come from? The owner was in his 40s, 6 ft and I haven't noticed him or his leg-lifting dog here again, so presumably the lanes here in the countryside where we are nestled are preferable.

Yep the DD Act leads to complacency all round.

I hope the tankies fire the first shot . And they should move the MG forward.

take a cat over a bull terrier every time. Cats are without a doubt the most pychopathic killers on the planet IMHO. on the otherhand if the neigherhood requires multiple sercurity cameras maybe its not the pet that are out of control. Just saying.

Do the RSPB or RSPCA endorse this?

no endorsement required. I grew up on a farm cats everywhere, owned cats most of my adult life. Unless they are kept indoors away from wildlife they are vicious nasty predators without conscience or remorse (ever seen a well fed Cat with a mouse or Bird as a play thing; not a pretty sight). I haven't heard of too many dogs that will face down a cat. But I do love having one around they are great company when they decide to be. over here it just SPCA, had to think about what it stood for, (guess you and an R to everything ;)) or more commonly the Humaine Society.

    KevinC Slightly wierd

I know they always say if a cat falls from a tree it will land on it's feet, but chucking it out of an aircraft is really pushing the theory to the limits.

Seems to be a reasonable experiment. Cat has plenty of time to rotate. Anyone know the terminal velocity of a cat?
