Prepared and put together by the Australian War Memorial this is a compilation of Johnny on the spot works which have been blended into actual reports.

Starts off with Bardia 6th January 1941. My father was 6th division/19th brigade / 2/8th battalion

Active Service: The Australian Army in the Middle East

Forward by General Blamey, General Commanding the Australian Imperial Force in the Middle East.

"The soldier of this war is akin to the soldier of the last war. Fundamentally, the characteristics of the Australian are those of his comrades from Britain and all the Dominions, although he has his own way of expressing them. There is, in fact, a Private Everyman, who endures, laughs, shares in the collective optimism that is typical of British armies, grumbles at times, faces fire with courage, quenches misery in a joke, and has a contempt for heroics. It is with these qualities and their back-ground of action that this book is chiefly concerned."

This is the Internet at its very best! A very interesting and useful e-book. Superb artwork, often more telling and evocative than photography.

Since Spidge has seen fit to "lift" the above from my site without recognition of source I wonder if I could have an idea of the ethics of the Forum, please, especially since he is a Super Moderator.

My site is Anzacs of WWII. RAN, AIF & RAAF, 1940-1945 and it is clearly marked that reproduction is not permitted.

Hey Spidge, the wording is not mine so you are not guilty of plagarism but you are guilty of dodgy tactics.

My apologies Ted and further detail in my PM to you. I have referred your site to members many hundreds of times as the quintessential source for anything Anzac.

Spidgeyou are guilty of dodgy tactics.
The dodgy tactics that Ted is complaining about is technically known as hotlinking. It is fully explained here Hotlinking and Bandwidth Theft - What is it?

Apart from its web faults, hotlinking nullifies copyright, in that others may link legitimately to the hotlinked mirror page and not realise it is copyright material. The same goes for photos.

We are all trying to build up the web and webmasters welcome legitimate links.
