Why would the west want to take over China. Everything would go up in price. Not Chop Suey and Fortune Cookies
Good point, but even if your statement was true, why are you upset? I'm not upset, and I don't hate America or the Americans. However, I can't resist a 'wind-up' and every so often I feel the need to see if the ole septics are learning to have the piss taken out of them. ...Apparently not, because despite my best efforts to annoy various other nationalities, this thread has just earned me my first negative rep. points.:p
Rich - I don't know anything about negative points etc - but I must have a barrow load of them as every now and again I feel like I have been sent to Coventry as I usually tell the truth which is unacceptable to too many these days. so join the club Cheers

This sums up the U.S. attitude in so many things :- "We're the biggest, so we're the best". ...and still you wonder why half the world hates you and most of the rest wish that you'd show the maturity which your position demands. I like blunt. Being an American, I've seen movies like Independence Day that show this kind of "we are smarter than the rest of the world" attitude which to me is very insulting. However, we have done much to help the world..and the reason why half the world hates us is because of the political arrogance we can have depending on the...<oh what are the words I'm looking for>..the hot political world crises at the moment. Yes, we somehow can be too big for our britches at times..however, we've been there when a lot of people needed us. How's that?
What is the date for these figures? I'm surprised at #2. Za, I think Japan has always been a high donater due to them not being allowed to deploy their military overseas in the way of peace keeping troops. I think the ban has recently been lifted -Several years ago perhaps. A

The 'hate you', arrogance, smart ass and attitude stuff had already been very well covered!
[added] Aha! I'm in this other one! This one was here: Anglo-pilfererAn Anglo-Celtic Australian, possibly of convict lineage. Based on the belief that all Anglo-Australians are descended from convicts. Particularly offensive.[8] In all my life I have never heard this saying. Who cares about being descended from convicts. With the explosion of people searching their family histories, finding a convict is now worn as a "badge of honour" which was not so 60 -100 years ago. or......Australia only has 200 years of history. People have thrown the "White Australia Policy" in my face plenty of times however we have hopefully grown out of that slur. Australia is now one of the largest multi cultural societies in the world however there will always be a certain element who embarrass you from time to time. We all have our skeletons in the cupboard.
I guess this is the flip side. It was broadcast during the Vancouver Winter Olympics by a U.S. network. YouTube - Tom Brokaw Explains Canada To Americans More positive than I expected.

I don't think y'all realize how much the average American appreciates Canada. I am honored to live in a country that shares a border with such a grand nation. We talk about our "special relationship" (Obama's recent gaffe notwithstanding) with the United Kingdom, but when it gets down to brass tacks, our "really special relationship" is with the Cannucks. I salute you all. :canflag[1]:

I think this thread should be retitled 'The North American Love In '. Awe, Owen, don't think that we don't love you Limeys, too.
Awe, Owen, don't think that we don't love you Limeys, too. Yeah Owen, don't be offended. We do threesomes. :p
