Thanks for the reply. I am in no hurry so if it takes a while I don't mind. I am a historian for the New Zealand SAS and am currently researching kiwis who were in the UK special Forces.
Wayne, All noted. There are some references to Kiwis here, mainly in the North African context IIRC. A friend writes on UK SF there, so I will advise him of your work. It might be worth starting a thread on WW2 Kiwis in UK-led SF.
still not Special Forces per se. No organised documented mission. could have been privately organised. see my website for books on Special Forces www.dandy.co.za I would say in the British scene the LRDG were the first organised, controlled, funded, well-directed unit in the modern scheme of things. Intell gathering -spies goes back to Biblical times.
I have no information of the nature of the 3 airmen's mission, but I do have information on their summary executions in Songkhla. It is somewhat complicated and I would first like to know if this is still of interest to others.
David, Yes, is the simple answer. The site does act as an information store on WW2 and a little more. Every week new members appear who have found a name when searching online and ask for help, or simply read and go away. Plus, there is a member here Fatboy Coxy who is very interested in pre-war covert activity and is the author of alternative history (which I follow). See: Malaya What If So please add what you know, preferably with the sources!
