Tank Wrecks of the Western Front, 1940–1945 By Anthony Tucker-Jones Imprint: Pen & Sword Military Series: Images of War Pages: 130 Illustrations: 160 ISBN: 9781526741547 Published: 23rd October 2019 I do not understand the point of this book. The remarkable work in Panzerwrecks & After The Battle books is already a thing. Those titles (Panzerwrecks in particular, obviously) both provide series of connected images of abandoned/wrecked vehicles, giving them context and detail, getting into the depth of who operated them, how they were lost, etc. etc., to the nth degree. This is just a random slew of pictures with a very light single paragraph summary of each vehicle model at the start of each chapter. Zero context to the images other than some pretty naff/limited captions. Decent-enough pictures (I like tanks), but I suspect mostly of limited quality in the original as P&S are good at image reproduction these days & a few shots are quite sharp. Largely though; grainy low-quality photography. Sort of thing you used to be able to buy quite cheaply at fairs. Don't bother. Just filler in the mass of tank books really. Meh. ~A Cheers to P&S for the review copy.
