Then Enjoyed the Hellcat episode, but more for the reunion with its Commander than anything. Now there was one happy bunny! Yeah just watched that episode today before work. Definately one of my favourite ones. Mainly because of the veterans face when he's riding in the Hellcat. My favourite tank used to be the Sherman (for looks) but after seeing that today, I may be changing my mind. marcus
Very nice pictures VP. Has anybody seen that Snickers advert with Mr T? He drives into a baseball game or something in a tank. Now that's a nice tank. Looks like a variation of the Hellcat. I'm probably wrong though. Anybody seen it?
YouTube - Get Some Nuts! - Snickers Advert Youtube seems to have compressed the image rather strangely. Looks like a T55 with some electronic jiggery-pokery gone on. Could be a 54 though, I'm useless at postwar Soviet variations.

It is a Tank Destroyer, in other words an anti-tank gun on a lightly armoured chasis. PS Saw all of the Hellcat prog today, missed some of it first time around, rather good one eh?
From a heads up by Ike on WW2F Tank Overhaul - TV Show (Episode Guide & Showings) | LocateTV Looks like 3 more programmes were made in 2008 - Centurion, Elefant, Chaffee. Quite looking forward to the Elefant one turning up as it was such a relief when Aberdeen rescued it from it's rather dreadful state of neglect, far from an 'overhaul' but at least a weatherproofing.

Never knew that. I've always referred a big gun on a tracked vehicle to be a tank. I remember spending a week at Catterick Garrison and when we were introduced to the Warrior I was kind of disappointed to learn it was actually called an 'Armoured personel carrier'. I kind of shrugged my shoulders and muttered to myself, "looks like a tank to me mate". :p Hmmmmm, Sherman or Hellcat? Hellcat looks better but if it's not a tank, well, The Sherman it is. Cheers for bringing this thread to light again VP.

Nice one mate. Haven't seen it for a while now since UKTV history dissapeared from my freeview box. It was always a refreshing change of boring stuff on the other channels.
Retune mate, UKTVHistory is now 'Yesterday'. Never knew that. I've always referred a big gun on a tracked vehicle to be a tank. And carry on thinking that way! Don't get drawn into the (often fun) pedant's game of 'What is a Tank?'
And carry on thinking that way! Well If the tank meister says so! Like I mentioned about Catterick, I never understood why they don't call it a tank. In my eyes it is. So has UKTV history updated then? My old freeview box used to have it on daytimes (since they decided to stop broadcasting on evenings ), but since it died on me, we've been using my girlfriends old box which doesn't have it on. Re-tuned a couple of times but not lately.
Von Poop Retune mate, UKTVHistory is now 'Yesterday'. It's probably not there because of the time restriction 6am-6pm and fiction on the weekends. It was Sharpe from 4pm on Saturday!! Steve
Series popped up on Prime. Not half bad, really, and it makes me laugh we talked about vapid TV on first airing when it seems reasonably deep compared to some more recent things. Interesting that it's from a period only a decade or so back when Sherman chat was a tad... lacking in nuance. Quite reassuring, as I suspect a few blokes on there might have adjusted their views somewhat now,
