Thanks VP. Those tracks are rare survivors if I remember your first post correctly?

Do they still drive the tanks around at the Land Warfare Museum at Duxford? Other than a Grant I saw last year, they are the only old tanks I've ever seen moving.

    Cheers

Duxford show still goes on every year, never got down there as it's always on just before Beltring and that tends to attract all my attention. Daft really as they've got a hell of a collection and from what I've seen of them moving stuff more informally they don't muck around when putting stuff through it's paces :). Might make the effort this year...

Alex, when you say lifted , was this another vehicle saved from the marshlands?
("Lifted" is also English slang for stolen.)
Good resource for anyone making a model of that particular T34, thanks.

Do they do "go recover a Soviet-tank" style holidays?

What some finds on that site, T34/76, KV-1 & Stug III.
Wonder what else is lost in Russian lakes and bogs?

It's not easy to tell from the photos on the website but it appears that the German markings have been removed as part of the 'conservation'. If so, I think that is a real shame: leave it exactly as you found it without 'reconstruction' is a fundamental rule of conservation.

I'd looked too but I don't think there's enough evidence in those pictures.
I'm with you though, hopefully they've found a way that keeps the markings.

By the wonder of the Google translator I found a few more pics on a familiar site:
Edit: Sorry, still can't do direct links there, if you go in via one of these translated links click 'Haxodku' on the left menu and it will take you to the pictures only with rough translations.

    Adam,

    Some great viewing.
It just asks the question of what else remains to be found out there-lots by the look of it.

Perhaps this has been noted here before and my apologies if it has but there is an interesting webshots site that i like to check out every once in a while. It's summitphotographics's photos and albums on webshots

Many of you no doubt have seen it before as it hosts numerous photos taken by German soldiers while on the eastern front.

Most recently there was a new album added which is a series of shots taken by I believe the person who owns the shots, of the recovery of a T-34 from a swamp somewhere in Russia. It's quite amazing the condition of this vehicle. There appears to be almost no corrosion to it or it's contents.
