    Hi to all
    Please Can You Help
My father died in August of 2003 leaving a gap in his life that his family would love to complete. He would never talk about the war and told me the only time i could find out would be when he is no longer with us.I have his service records which identify where he was but they do not identify what the relevant Regimental did in the war.
I know he was at Rimini in 7 th October as his best buddy was killed at his side and rests in the Coriano Ridge Cemetery.

Joined 23rd regiment Field Artillery (March 1942)
Joined 68th Field Reg RA- posted North Africa/Iraq,(June 1942 to Aug 1943)
    Joined 68th RA again-(June 1944 to Jan 1946)
Joined 5th Mediterranean Force (january 1946 to March 1947)

Any information on 8 th army (68th RA) movements between June 1944 to 1946 ?????

Could anyone tell me what the regiments were doing over these dates or direct me to the best location for information.

Hope you can help the family fill in this period of my fathers life that will complete the story of a very brave loving and caring man.

    Thank's

23rd Field Regt RA was in 4th Infantry ( mixed) Division in the Divisional Artillery. Operational from April 1943 and was part of Operation Torch, 1st Army landing in North Africa. Joined IX Corps on 3rd May. The21st Tank Brigade was attached to the Division hence the ' mixed ' description.
( info on actions ' The Bloody Road to Tunis ' by David Rolf.)

68th RA shown as with 10th Indian Div Aug 43 to Aug 45 in Persia and Iraq.

Don't understand what 42 and 44 Battalion means in terms of Paiforce
I'll ask a friend of mine who was a Captain in Paiforce and has a book on them what this is.

5th Med Force is another unknown.

    Aye
