I will have a think about things he may have told me. I'll also have another look through his army papers for any more clues. Thanks.
Great! You might want to post good scans of his Service Record and any other military papers here, because this forum has a number of kowledgeable members who might be able to extract valuable info from them, as you can see from numerous other threads of a similar nature. Michel
Ianto, As you can see you’ve created a challenge! I will reiterate here – any clues are helpful, names of your Dad’s mates, names of Officers he served under – potentially scribbled on the back of old photos.... I've had a quicker gander at the South Lancs Regimental History (by Col BR Mullaly) thus far. Result: predictably absolutely useless. Regards Arty Edit. Ianto....Did your Dad perchance do post war service in the RAF?
Not RAF, no - he went almost straight away into the police force. However, he was involved with the ATC locally.
Ianto, Not that it was at all relevant to NW Europe anyway, however there are several references to a "Rheinallt EVANS" - RAF serial no. 206504 - in the London Gazette from 1958 through to about 1965. But obviously not the right Rheinallt... Meanwhile, any more clues? Regards Arty
