    Good afternoon all,
This is my first post, hope someone can help.
I have a modest collection of WW2 bells and one I was told is from an allied landing craft, most probably LCT 945.
I have been researching this and referred to your forum as a Mike (Sabarly) gave info to a Stevie S. regarding a report from Naval Commander Force S Group 7 where LCT 945 made a good landing but struck a teller mine on leaving and Midshipman Craddock Jones RNVR was killed. His death is shown on the CWGC site as 22 June 1944.
What I would like is a copy of the Naval Commanders report which 'Mike' may have had sight of but his message was dated 16.7.2014. I tried to message Mike but do not know if he still subscribes?
Where do I find that report?
    One photo attached.
    Regards,
    Ken

    Ken,

I think you confuse two contributors. Mike aka Trux cobbled together the thread on Sword beach but Michel Sabarly is the clever one. No doubt he will be along to answer you soon.

    Mike.

  4. Hi Ken,

Following are all 3 pages of said report:

The only two views LCT 945 I know of, first at her trot on 3 June 1944 after loading at GF Hard, Gosport between 1200 and 1630 hours (IWM film A70 36-1 around 00:57, shot by Sjt Greenhalgh on board LCT 863):
    945 LCT(4) in trot - A70 36-1 - 360 - 1944-06-06 - Greengalgh - 00.57 - 23 - adj.jpg

then a photo shot from LCT 979, probably shortly after D Day (Porstmouth D Day Museum, now "The D-Day Story, Portsmouth" photo (not online anymore) number 1993_14_33 or 14_1993_33, from the Winkley ollection):

    Hi Michel,
That's absolutely brilliant! Thank you very much, I did not expect a photo as well. I will keep it all with the write up to my bell. May I ask where the naval report is archived please.
    Much appreciated,
    Ken

  6. The report is in the Report by Naval Commander, Force S (DEFE 2/420).
