Picking up from another thread, Marines in Djibouti Lance Cpl. Craig W. Mehlenbeck, an assaultman from Weapons platoon, Alpha Company, Battalion Landing Team 1st Battalion, 9th Marine Regiment, 24th Marine Expeditionary Unit, launches a high explosive rocket from his MK153 Shoulder-fired, Multi-purpose, Assault Weapon in the mountains of Djibouti, Africa, during a live fire range, March 28. The 24th MEU Marines performed a series of sustainment and joint exercises alongside the French military service members while in Djibouti. The 24th MEU currently serves as the theatre reserve force for Central Command during its seven month deployment aboard Nassau Amphibious Ready Group vessels. Photo by Sgt. Alex C. Ok but is this necccessary, The French comandos and the legion are badasses. It seems to me all it does is makes people make stupid comments about the French and the Americans... Esp by people trying to defend theyre national pride.
Seems to me if it werent For a French man named Lafayette we would still be a colony of Great Britain. I say VIVA LA FRANCE...
Oh and be warned My fellow "AMIS" ya bash the French youre ony giving ZA ammo to feel like all Americans are assholes... Dont dignify this one
I must support you on this Ranger6, let's keep it going, close this topic, and lets all go back WOII subjects
Oh and be warned My fellow "AMIS" ya bash the French youre ony giving ZA ammo to feel like all Americans are assholes... Dont dignify this one Who gave you that idea? One of the wrong decisions in my life was not accepting that invitation by the American engineering firm I was working with to go with them to Pittsburgh PA and settle there, so I can't really be that anti-American :p
Who gave you that idea? One of the wrong decisions in my life was not accepting that invitation by the American engineering firm I was working with to go with them to Pittsburgh PA and settle there, so I can't really be that anti-American :p But you never went! :p
Guys In my estimation Za is actually saying that the US and French actually get along in spite of common perceptions about this whole "anti french" bias that pervades the media. I wouldnt get too worked up about it, besides, Za picks on everyone equally. You'll hurt his sense of equality!!
Za picks on everyone equally That might be the point but still some people could be offended by this, if you don't know this!
Lads, ok, I'm not seeing where the offending part is coming from. Maybe its the "thick Paddy" part of me but I honestly thought that Za was pointing out that the French and US are still comrades in Arms. I cant see where the offense is coming from Za's post. But having said that, I'm open to correction and I'm not being critical of anyone or their opinions.
Thank heaven! Double that! I'd be pining for the fjords in no time! But only after I'd gone to the Armor Museum in Ft. Knox, the NASM, the MOMA, the Smithsonian, the Pima aircraft museum, Old Rhinebeck, the Kennedy Space Center, the... oh shit, they're just too many
Oh and be warned My fellow "AMIS" ya bash the French youre ony giving ZA ammo to feel like all Americans are assholes... Dont dignify this one Ranger I think you have got the wrong end of the stick here. Za originally posted this in the "are we anti German" post in answer to someone who suggested that the French dont take part in multi national affairs. He was showing that they DO participate and, to me, this post is basically a continuation of that rebuttal. On thing the "are we ant German" post showed that very few people have a blanket "hatred" of any nationality. I know my American family are (and have been for the last few years) convinced the whole world hates them as a country, as an ideolagy and as human beings... Paraniod is not a word I use lightly but it fits my cousins at least. I dont know if it can all be blamed squarely on Fox news, but they do like to scare monger....! I have said it before and I will say it again. When it comes to France, I love the place and I love the people... My dad, on the other hand, hated "the French". He blamed their surrender (and thus the 51st Highland Division having to surrender as they were under French command) for his 5 year encarceration in a salt mine. I fully understand his feelings but they are not mine. If one Brit is "anti American" you will find another who is pro American (and a whole bunch who have no feelings either way). If I may give you (and my cousins if they are reading this) a bit of advice, Try not being so touchy about stuff and learn to say ".... meh!" It makes the world a much more pleasant place to live! (and no, I am not a tree hugging hippy ) (good grief, I used a smiley... now I realy do hate myself... :p .. ahhh bugger, I've gone and done it again
No no i dont have it wrong at all... its BAITING... pure and simple... and this fishie aint biting.. now im gonna eat some FRENCH TOAST
