    Hi

My great uncle was reported to be a squadron leader (possibly fighter command). His name was Murray Spaulding (I believe that is the correct spelling). I only met him once when I was very young. I am trying to find out about him. Has anyone came across his name before or got any info on him?

    regards

    Pete

Can't believe inferred county for a Newcastle Upon Tyne birth is Cumberland!

Have you searched for him on London Gazette?

His RAF commission and any subsequent promotions ought to be in there.

    Good Luck

    Steve Y (born in Cumberland)

Newcastle Upon Tyne would, of course, have been Northumberland at that time and it's a fair distance from Cumberland.

Note in first Gazette mention his original no was 1523822 this shows that he joined RAF April 1941 at Padgate Warrington Cheshire.

Wasn't me who did the transcript in Ancestry

thanks for the links - I have found a few more gazette links. Is there anyway to work out which squadron(s) he would have been associated with or which planes he flew?
