I have been looking into the circumstances surrounding the loss Squadron Leader Lelsie Frank Cooper on 24/10/1943. His name is recorded on the Runnymede Memorial and on his father’s headstone in a local churchyard, I also have a newspaper announcement dated 15/11/1943 stating that he is missing. I have found an online reference that he was lost whilst piloting an 86 Squadron Liberator operating from Ballykelly however the sqn ORB has no record of any aircraft lost on 24/10/1943.

    Can anybody offer any pointers.
