I have an Army Service Record with an entry in the section headed 'Special Instance of Gallant Conduct and mentions in Despatches'. The entry is:

    "E.M.(T) A.O. 45/50 " followed by a stamp "ISSUED ON 5/51"

Can anyone help decipher this please?

I have also just seen this entry on my Grandfather's war record. It is for his Efficiency Medal, awarded to members of the Territorial Army. War service was counted as double. My grandfather, and others presumably, were still on the active list until after the war and I guess that is the reason for the late issue of the medal. I hope this makes sense with the records you have.
