    Hello Adam/any Modertor,

I had this number of supposed notifications, it cleared when I clicked on 'Your Notifications'.

However, I have subsequently noticed certain words in forum members 'Messages' are underlined; usually small words like 'book', 'failed', etc. When you place the cursor to hover over the word an advertisement can be seen. The main advertisement is for a iPhone 5, but the adverts are not limited to this.

See the word 'book' at Message # 52...

Is this a generic forum wide problem?

    Best,

    Steve.
That sounds a lot like this? http://www.ww2talk.com/forum/522528-post15.html See the links in the subsequent posts for how to get rid of it :)

I don't think the forum notification number glitch and your link problem are directly connected, Steve.
Have you run a malware scanner? as on first impression it sounds more like a bit of mal-buggery.
    eg. ' book' doesn't highlight/link for me:

Obviously all things are possible, but I'm pretty sure we're clean at the mo.
Any others getting link-spam that persists after a malware scan?

    Nothing here.

Thanks Adam, I'll run the mal-scan.

I don't know why these people persist (or exist). If there is one thing that would make this consumer look elsewhere for the iPhone 5, or not bother at all, it is this sort of forced mal-buggery!

That's reminded me of an incident last Wednesday...you should have seen the hastened exit from my doorstep of the Jehovah's Witness salesperson that called. I told her that I lived in a 'no cold calling zone' and that rule applied to Jehovah as well as everyone else. :)

    Best,

    Steve.

I know someone who used to organise these doorstep calls. They are very organised and it is is pre-mapped and pre-planned. If you show any interest or engage in conversation then you are (secretly) marked down for a follow up visit from a team dedicated to turning interest into converts.
I was informed one of the ways of getting out of being cold-called is to make some sexual reference/advance to a female Witness. This is frowned upon and you are marked out as an undesirable and left alone!

    The best way to rid yourself permanently of these sorts is to simply say;

"Wow, do you think they would reconsider my excommunication?" or something similar. If they think you have been excommunicated they will run away like the plague was chasing them. :D

    They officially call it "disfellowshipping"

What you did works like a charm and I've used a similar tactic a couple of times in my life.
My stock line is " I'm so happy to see you. I haven't seen anyone from the Temple since I was shunned last year."

    No more visits ever! :sign_woot:

They knocked on my door and asked if I had thought of becoming a Jehovah's Witness, I told them that would not be possible as I never saw the accident. They left. and have never been back.

Their version of Watchtower is nowhere near as good as Hendrix's. :rocker:
