Great stuff, the one you posted above especially.
I like this one so far:

Plenty on there that would never have made it through the censors at the time.

Could you tell us what this says (I'd like to think it says "Santa Claus goes kick ass"!)

    "Старик-партизан". Ленинградская область. 1942

"Liberation of Austria, April 1945. Family of Nazi suicide, Vienna"

Thanks very much for the link, Alex!
I've learnt earlier this week that BEHA is Russian for Wein (Vienna).
So much else to learn too.
Take it those women didn't want to be raped by the Soviets, maybe?

These shots are marvellous, really show the Soviets as a modern professional army as opposed to the way they've often been presented in the west. Hopefully much more to come from the former USSR.

    Caption says Krebs.
    (babelfish does Russian now)

General Krebs (chief of the General Staff of the land forces of Germany) after unsuccessful negotiations with General v.I.Chuykov. "V. d. Sokolovsky, who was authorized news negotiations, it categorically stated to Krebs: a cessation of hostilities is possible only with the condition of the complete and unconditional surrender of the Fascist-German troops before all allies. On this the negotiations ended ". Berlin, on 1 May 1945

    I liked the "unsuccessful negotiations" quote on the Krebs caption;

    Could I... Nyet.
    What if... Nyet.
    Could you.. Nyet.
    How about.. Nyet.
    etc.

The best picture ever made in ww2 i balive is the picture when U.S. and Soviet troops first met each other in Torgau near the end of World War II

Just wondering the sources for these photos? Reason I ask is at first I thought these were all from hidden Soviet archives but alot are already "out there".
As I'm currently reading Berlin 1945 The Final Reckoning by Karl Bahm.
They have many shots similar to the ones on that website.
One of Krebs, a rear view is credited to AKG London.
