This thread has gone a bit quiet. Here's another to get the ball rolling again: what's this engine and what did it power?
Well nobody has expressed any interest but I shall post this all the same. It's the Model V-2 engine used for the T34 and all it's borthers and sisters: http://http://images.google.co.uk/imgres?imgurl=http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/0/07/T34_engine_parola_1.jpg/180px-T34_engine_parola_1.jpg&imgrefurl=http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/T-34&h=240&w=180&sz=24&hl=en&start=6&tbnid=M90s4Hmwxm2h4M:&tbnh=110&tbnw=83&prev=/images%3Fq%3DT34%2Bengine%26gbv%3D2%26hl%3Den
Not exactly a quiz - I just wanted to know what on earth this is. WWII in Colour describes this as a Canadian-made snowmobile but it doesn't seem to be recorded in any lend-lease information I can find on the web or in written sources. Anybody got a clue? Photos - Soviet Forces
Go to T16 Universal Carrier > Other Carriers > Canadian Armoured Snowmobile You will find your snowmobile details. Tom
That's fantastic, thanks Smudger. There's even one in Kubinka...one day I might even get to go there! H
Not a bad piece of kit for 1941, still looks good today. They should still be making them as it would be fun to own one if you lived where there was lots of snow. Tom
