    Cheers Geoff, I suspect that the last remaining ones will become harder and harder to get, alhtough I know I will never complete the list as a result of the situation with the CWGC cemeteries in Iraq.

    Sep 11
    Battalion scheme. Visited by Inspector of Infantry. “C” Coy, M/C.Pl,Carriers and Mortars took part in an attack. Enemy was provided by 361 Bty of 66 A/T Rgt,1 Pl of H Coy, 2Pl Ks and 1 troop of 348 Bty 136 Field Regt. Pte Kay of Carrier Pl received a gunshot wound from which he died in the Norfolk and Norwich Hospital, Norwich.

    Phil - quick check.....the list is comprised entirely of soldiers with a SLancs number? Or does it also include GS numbers?

    Its a mixture of both. South Lancs service numbers, plus casualties listed as serving or attached to the South Lancs, or have the South Lancs as secondary regt

    We took a photo of every CWGC headstone in a very wild and hilly cemetery and couldn't find him. Then, my 6 year old research assistant spotted something through the bushes and down a slope and there he was!

    SMITH. ADAM, T/3656792 – Grave Sec. C.K. Grave 2.
    Staff Sergeant Adam Smith originally enlisted with the South Lancashire Regiment, and later served with 851 Fire Fighting Company, Royal Army Service Corps. Staff Sergeant Smith died aged 29 on the 18th October 1947 at Ashford in Kent.

    Thanks Jonathan and Son, The third photo for mne sums up an issue that the CWGC will face in years to come. The graves around it have obviously been allowed to fall into disrepair and are no longer marked. However, the CWGC's royal charter ensures that the CWGC headstone is maintained. But for how long.
