90 looks like some sort of gathering...Are they Russian troops with the Germans? Which I would guess would be around 1939/40- maybe Poland ?

88 and 89 Don't look like very nice guys to me.

    Adam,

Having looked at the photos I believe that Photo No 2 is of a Nieuport Delage 52.
With the wing struts and stubby lower wing, together with the exhaust port holes on the upper side of the Vee engine, it certainly looks like one.

Photograph 3 looks to me like a Bloch MB 174, Bomber. With glazed nose and upper cockpit, it certainly looks like one.

Photographs 10 & 11 look remarkably similar to photographs in Ian Baxters book SS: The secret Archives-western front. My copy is the German edition , but should be identical.

The caption states that the Moroccans were captured by thwe SS Totenkopf infantry regiment around Le Cateaux and Cambrai.
Most if not all were later executed.

Hope this is of help to both you and Diane.

    Regards

    Tom

    Good stuff Smudger.
I should perhaps point out that all of the pictures on this fine thread are from Diane's collection, I'm only the thread starter as I was helping out when she hadn't quite got her head around uploading pictures.
(As we can all see... she's unstoppable now :D Here's hoping there's more to come.)

    Adam,

As soon as I saw the photo of the Moroccan prisoners of war I was struck by the similarity of those I had seen in the book.

I can only assume that the photos were taken at the same time and place by an officer of the SS and that they were later liberated from a prisoner or .....

If any one else compares the images, perhaps they can agree, or disagree.

I am really getting to like this forum site, so much specialist knowledge available.

    Regards

    Tom

    Diane,
As a new member I am trawling through the site and came across your pictures.

I have to concurr with others regarding photo 36. It appears to be a Feld Polizei operation, with captured Soviet pow's and partisans? (Man with flat cap).
    I fear the worst.

Photo 33 to me appears very similar to many others I have seen taken by soldiers on Operation Barbarossa, the early advance into Russian.

    Hello Tom,
I hope you found them of interest.

I think we all agree that No. 36 looks very sinister.

Thank you for all your comments, most helpful. :)

    Regards,
    Diane

Just looking at that picture. It doesnt appear that the Germans are SS - of the 3 in the background 1 is a tanker (left guy) and the other 2 seem to be Wehrmacht. They are a bit of a distance away but I cant seem to see any SS troops around.

Pic 3 shows a Potez 63.11 recon aircraft. Photo was probably taken in France in May/June 1940.

Absolutely correct Karltrwitz, Having compared the Bloch and the Potez I too now firmly believe it to be the Potez 63.11.

Well spotted, the similarities are so close between the two, but the position of nose glazing struts is to me the give away.

    Again, well spotted.
