The tank nuts will go mad for those dug in turrets! That's a JS-3 turret isn't it? What's the other, thought it was T-44 but it not.
The tank nuts will go mad for those dug in turrets! Glad that I can do something for 'em PS: should I write 'might be worth a look' or 'might worth a look'?
Wait till Bodston and Adam see this, He he. Well done Dead. That JS-3 looks mighty scary, even if it is dug in.
I've got some info on JS3 & 4 turret installations in Neil Short's 'Tank Turret Fortifications' - I'll have a proper shufti later and see if this one's covered.
IS4? Just reading IS4s were emplaced and in use until 1984, (other turrets still being in use until the late 90s) though ones (the majority of IS4 usage) In the Karelian district facing Finland apparently had their hatches welded shut so they could only be accessed via the large 'TOT' bunkers they were built onto. That might disqualify this one, but I'm not entirely happy yet it's an IS4?
Amazing photos - am presuming you took them?! No, no, no . Just found 'em while was looking for some photos. EDIT: oh, good that you renamed the thread and moved in right location
