Tom, thank you for your efforts to help me! Indeed i´m the opinion that it must be Heidrich. Alfred Strum is close but he won´t fit in the things my Grandpa told me. He said that this man was his General for the longest time at war and General B. Ramcke was the one he liked the most. But Ramcke was only a short time his General so that only Heidrich is left.

    Thanks again!

I'd still go for Strum. :)

I'm not convinced that's a metal clip-on type eagle on the photo of Heidrich. It looks like a normal cloth type with the swastika overhanging the pocket flap as is usual.

Anal mode on... Also compare the tailoring of the tunics.

From the Bundesarchiv photo of Strum, the lapels of the tunic are wider than the collar. Then notice the collar patches are about half the width of the collar; there's a small gap between the bottom edge of collar and the bottom of the collar patches and practically no gap between the outer edge of the patches and outer edge of collar.

That matches rather closely the tunic in Ulrich's photo.

Compared to the Heidrich tunic, the lapels are narrower than the collar and collar patches are evenly spaced from the edge of the collar. The width of the collar patches fill most of the width of the collar. He obviously had a better tailor than Sturm.

Then there's the roundness of Sturm's ears, a few pock marks, his flabby jowls and close shaven head.

Although actually both Heidrich and Sturm have a rather similar appearence, especially when wearing the same uniform. Without a date for the photo it's a difficult one to call either way.

    Ulrich,

I have been going through all the High Ranking Officers in order to attempt an identification of the General in the picture,

I think that it could well be Richard Heidrich. In this photograph the Eagle is also a clip on type, which was pretty non standard.

I may be wrong but it is the closest match to date.

    Regards
    Tom

PWO, you have some good points! Can anybody identify the officer at the far left in front? He reminds a bit on Karl-Lothar Schulz the later Generalleutnant, if he is the one in the pic, it is made in 1940 before the Operation Merkur.
