I have had a brief look at previous posts on this forum and my head is hurting!-I don't understand many of the questions and the answers/solutions are way above my pay grade.
So-having set the bar really really low-
Is there a way of replying to posts-eg to thank someone for their help?
How can I quickly find any comments on subjects I have posted on?
I think that's all for now-more silly questions to follow in due course!

    Hi Ally

To reply to a post, the easiest way to get that person's attention is to quote their post within your reply (as I did above with yours). That way in most cases they should get a notification.

Find the post and look for the "Quote" button at the bottom right of the window.
Click that and scroll down to the "Reply to this topic" window at the bottom of the thread.
Enter your comments and click the "Post" button.

If you move your cursor over your username (on this thread, on the left-hand side beside your post, above avatar), a window will appear which shows a brief summary of your account - number of posts, date of joining etc.
Underneath the avatar in this window is a "Find Content" button. Click this and a new page will load showing both Topics and Posts. You can filter this to either Topic or Post by clicking the corresponding buttons on the bottom left-hand side of the page. To access the threads, etc, click the title.

    Hope that helps

You can also go to the top right hand corner of the page and click on your username, which provides a sub menu, click on My Profile and the next screen has the options for seeing all your posts (click on Posts), reputation, settings etc. Selecting My Content from the first sub menu shows all the threads you have posted in etc etc

    Hi Ally

Welcome to the forum and please believe me when I say that when it comes to being a simpleton....I lead the field in that department and, not only here but with the internet itself! as David (Lotus) will verify :)

So, thanks for asking the question (I have been trying to work out how to include a quote for ages)..... and thanks Dbf for the answer....I'm going to try it now, but as I cant see it in this little box, I'm not quite sure that I've even managed it this time...unless it comes up when I hit post?

Have fun Ally, good luck with your searches and enjoy reading the threads...... the people on here really are great with their help and advise and I for one have gone from knowing absolutely nothing, to now reading the War Diaries and things are beginning to fall into place.....but still need the headache pills, so long way to go!

At a some point, we were all novices at 'forum-ing', and all of us had to start over when the new software was introduced.

So no-one should be afraid of asking for help - none of the mods will mind answering, if they are around at the time. :)

The software's FAQs aren't too clear, but they might be a help to those who have grasped basic terminology, etc. http://ww2talk.com/forums/index.php?app=core&module=help
