Hi guys, Recently acquired this WWII Japanese flag. I was told by someone that there are multiple slogans on it, two of which are "May God prosper your arms" and "Long live Imperial Japanese Army", but he said there were others that he was unsure of. I just wanted to see what you guys thought of this flag, and if anyone can help with any more translations I'd GREATLY appreciate it. Thanks!
Nick My Japanese speaking friend has deciphered one of the messages as being "This chap thinks he has got a genuine signed flag, do me a favour and humour him!" Only kidding, of course Ron
Thats a great flag. Assuming and hoping its real I bet it has a tale or five it could tell. Any ideas where it has come from? Captured maybe?
Hi Nick You might try posting this one on the Japanese section of the Axis history forum Axis History Forum • View forum - Japan at War 1895-1945 There is an English language Japanese hosted WWII forum as well that is very good. I thought I had it book marked but I can't find it now. I think those flags were usually signed by family members and friends of the guy wishing him well. But I like Ron's idea too!
