I was going through 9th Parachute Battalion War Diary looking for a shooting incident (friendly fire) on Mark Hickman's website but found an entirely different shooting incident which should be interesting. I believe the photograph of an 'werewolf' in Wismar is the chap below Karl Prasse; the report makes for interesting reading.

    STATEMENT BY GUARD COMMANDER

Report on investigation of shooting incident outside Savings Bank on night 3/4 May 45.

I cannot find the photograph on IWM site, Pte. May survived the incident.

Yes knew about this one. Stood on the spot in the main square in Wismar when I went a couple of years ago.

Cee has found a clearer photograph as well deciphered and translated the sign "This man shot at our posts on the night of May 3-4." which confirms that this is Karl Prasse.

    Thanks Cee!
