I read about stubbs he was in A troop.he mentions there were 6 troops in the 6th.if my father was a signaller would each troop support airborne regts ? Stubbs says he laid lines between HQ and fwd obs .A and b 69th bty ,C and D 70 bty ,E and F 71 bty . i will check out these btys. I am sure he was in one of these. Is there diaries for these btrys or war map indicating where regts or btys were located? thank you and all members for the help. I'm trying to give as much info as possible and answer questions. My father, R D Stubbs, and I visited the area around Nejmegen in 2004 after the BBC website posting. His personal diary said "Rome" which we could not find on any map so after consulting with my Dutch work colleagues we changed to Homet. The Hotel Oude Mill in Groesbeek where we stayed had an old detailed map on the wall and we found Rome on it. None of the locals knew it and indeed we could not find it with our local guide. There were also photos of the hotel with the Guards Armored Div. in front of its shell. The tree in front of the hotel in the photo was also in the old photo.

After Wesel their group went up to Altenberge (photo of RDS with German children) then onto Hamburg. In 1946 the unit went by the Medloc train on then to sail to Egypt. Scan0002 (2).jpg Scan0003 (2).jpg
