Hi there attached photo is from map 158 IV NW, left grid line is 76, the lower grid line being 36, I hope it is helpfull
Would post the map but it is rather large, a copy can be obtained form the British Library, who hold a number of maps for the Italian campaign, either 1:50 000. 1:25 000, some detail however can be confusing.
Straight forward B/W copies cost around £6, if you cann't get to the library contact the Map Room by e-mail or telephone and ask if they will assist, they did for me and I had qiuet a number copied!
Any probs let me know and will see if I can get it copied it for you.
    Regards James

Will you be in the area of Rocca from the 10th to 13th September.
I will be there staying at the Pensione / Pizzaria La Lanterna situated on Highway 6 at Mignano Monte Lungo, the Pensione is right opposite the railway station and a petrol station. If you are looking for a room it is 25 euro;s per night B+B, very clean but noisy due to heavy traffic using Highway 6 instead of the motorway to Rome (TOLL). We will be holding a short service at the war Memorial in the centre of Rocca d Evandro on Saturday (11th) Morning about 10 0 clock and on Sunday Morning up at the new Cairn just above Formella once again at 10 o clock
    Cheers

    Cheers James, that'll do me.
I'll print if off my I get some more ink.

Sadly Mike, I won't be able to go to Italy for the forseeable future, lack of funds, work & family prevent it.

    Owen.

If you have not found one yet, I have the map that you are looking for. If you give me the British Grid Reference, I will get it converted through www.echodelta.net and track it to the right part of the 1:25,000 map then scan it in for you. No bother.

I have the 1:25,000 Italian Army maps but they use their own grid system.

    Nah it's ok thanks Minden.
I started this thread back in 2008 in the hope I could have found the location for my trip with Paul back then.
There's no chance of me going back that way for years to come so I'm happy with what I've done on this thread in locating the scene of Sgt Rogers VC action.
I hope it's proved useful for others.

    Hi all,

Further to this fascianting topic, I wonder if you have one or more WWII maps of the Piedmont and above all Aosta Valley area, North-Western Italy. It would be useful and important for my search.

Thank you indeed and, of course, I wish you all a nice 2012. :)

Hi Marco, I should have somewhere a full set of 1:250000 Touring Club maps from something around 1910. I could dig them out and find the Valle d'Aosta one, not surpisingly it's sheet #1. But you probably need something later and at a larger scale, have you tried contacting IGM?

    Hi Giuseppe,

Thanks indeed. Yes, I already bought several maps from the IGM - unluckily, the oldest sheets are no more available.
I think it would be great to have a copy of a WWII Allied, Italian or German map, concerning the Aosta Valley.

I realise this is an old thread, but i'm hoping to visit the area later this year, would love to find the exact site.
Anyone got a picture of the location plus pictures of Sgt Rogers and Bn accounts of the action?

    Thanks.
Do you know of any other accounts anywhere? I've seen the citation but i'm guessing there will be accounts written by numerous personnel at the time?

Also, I don't suppose you have the current location of the action, reading through this thread there are loads of references but not sure which is the closest?

    Thanks again

    Location Ardea, Italy
The C.O. ordered the two dismounted sections of the Carrier Platoon, numbering 16 in all, to attack N.E. Spur (M.R. 776369). They were again given invaluable support by the tanks. The Carriers pressed their attack home. It was in this attack that SGT ROGERS MM again distinguished himself. He dashed ahead of his platoon, through extremely heavy machine gun fire, firing his Tommy gun and throwing grenades. He succeeded in wiping out several machine gun nests, but his gallant conduct cost him his life.
