Following a recent query on twitter, we were posed the question as to how difficult is to fire the Vickers from the hip. This was the action of Sgt Longhurst of the 2/2nd Australian Machine Gun Battalion in 1942, which resulted in Italian troops fleeing and he was awarded the Military Medal.

The Vickers, tripod and ammunition weighs 100lbs (45kgs) so is not easy but we managed it.The videos (especially firing videos) cost significant amounts to put together.
