First stop would be apply to MoD for service records.
Requests for personal data and service records: a detailed guide - GOV.UK

I tried to look on National Archives website for 79 Sqn Operational Record Book but having trouble connecting with that website at moment.
Royal Air Force operations record books 1939-1945 - The National Archives

Had a look at 79 Sqn on internet & saw they'd have been on their way to India in 1942
    RAF - 79 Squadron
On 4 March 1942 it sailed for the Far East arriving in India on 20 June.

Not sure why he on Alamein Memorial if in India as CWGC says ...
The Air Forces panels commemorate more than 3,000 airmen of the Commonwealth who died in the campaigns in Egypt, Libya, Syria, Lebanon, Iraq, Greece, Crete and the Aegean, Ethiopia, Eritrea and the Somalilands, the Sudan, East Africa, Aden and Madagascar, who have no known grave. Those who served with the Rhodesian and South African Air Training Scheme and have no known grave are also commemorated here.

If you do get his service records I suggest sending a copy to CWGC & get the correct squadron on his entry there.
