  1. evening all i was wondering if anyone could help me?

my distant cousin charles frankish was in the 106th squadron of the RAF (which was commanded by a certain F/LT guy gibson V.C) what medals would have he been awarded iv'e looked into the newspapers and found that he died on the 16th of december 1943 by being shot down in a Lancaster in germany. i know that he volunteered mid 1940 and served until his death until 16 dec 1943. what medals would he have recieved. i normally can figure this out by army records but i haven't had much to do with RAF records before. any help would be greatly appreciated thank you in advance.

  4. thank you everyone for your help and support. I've received my cousins records back. it appears he had trained for radio communications and then to become an air gunner. it was then four months prior to his death that he was stationed with the 106th squadron. would anybody perhaps be able to shed any further light on his medals. obviously he would have been awarded the defense, war medal and 1939-43 star as qualifying was 2 months which shows on his records. would he have been awarded the air crew and europe star at all as qualifying criteria was two months. was this recorded in flying hours or another method.

any help would be greatly appreciated

many thanks again in advance guys
