    Good Evening,

This is my 1st post here, have received my fathers Royal Engineer army records. My question is would it be unusual to have a 7 month period missing from the records. The entries are:
1052 PMC attended a refresher course at T.N.T.C. R.E.Longmoor from 30/9/43 to 23/11/43, next entry is
1052 PM Coy embarked UK 30 June 44, went North West Europe.

    Thanks

Short answer is no - my fathers has a missing period from June 1942 until 1945 - so 3 plus years

My Dad's records as others only show changes to the norm. He has not changed Coy between his refresher course and embarkation so probably nothing to report. The only thing that may have occurred is embarkation leave. You would be best getting a copy of the war diary to see exactly what the Coy was doing, this should show movement and day to day activity. There are several members who can help you with this if you are unable to do this yourself. Thanks, how would I get the war diaries to see what they were doing, would I have to go to the National Archives?

Without seeing the actual record its hard to say 100% but he may have just been with 1052 PM Coy since Nov 1943 and nothing significant happened to his career worthy of note until he deployed to Normandy.
