    Hi,
I am trying to find out what some abbreviations mean please on a service record :

    Under Country served : B N A F - M E - C M F or T, think it's F - M E F
Also : Under Order Of Authority: 99/44 - X List.

Help with any of these, would be most appreciated.

    Thank you.

    Middle East, in that context.

For the X-List entry, you want to see what number is given (sometimes an Arabic number '4', sometimes a Roman numeral 'iv').

Uploading the papers here would help.

For those in doubt. A very rough explanation of BNAF, CMF and MEF
BNAF British North Africa Force covers all the countries on the northern edge of the continent of Africa From Morrocco to the Egyptian Border.
CMF Central Mediterranean Force was more or less Italy and surrounding islands. (not sure about Greece and the Balkans).
MEF Middle East Force covered countries from the Turkish Border to Afghanistan and Egypt to India.
Hope this helps as the world has changed a bit since WW2.
India and its neighbours were referred to as the Far east and Pacific
Many of these designations were introduced in conjunction with the Americans when they entered the war to define areas of operational command.
