Here is a link to a very good site with details of most ex-service associations brittish ex-servicemans associations For those of you how are seeking info on a realitive, this link takes to a site which contains a lot of useful addresses for the various unit associations around Britian. This would give a another source of inforation on the particular unit and its activites in wwII
Morse, thanks for suggesting a great site. But, perhaps it is better to put it under another forum catagory. Also, I suggest a better text link format, e.g. British Veteran Organisation.
Excellant links page Morse, the addresses of Associations are very hard to find at the best of times and can be a great help when doing research, their members are always more than happy to help and show a real interest in what you're doing. I recently contacted an Eighth Army veterans Association group in Manchester, Sadly, the Eighth Army Veterans Association closed down in December 2002 due to the advancing ages of its officers and committee members. But can you imagine my surprise when this gentleman said that his group still get together off their own backs every month and also produce a quarterly newsletter, which he kindly sent me. His part in the war was to serve with the Sherwood Foresters in the 46 Infantry Division, sailing on Christmas Day from Liverpool to join the 1st Army in Tunisia. I think its great too still see this comradeship going strong after so many years. They've invited me to go up and join in on one of their evenings...Can't wait!! What a great warm welcome, I'll keep you all posted on my trip. Regards Kieron
