    Dear Forum Members,

I have introduced myself on the User Introductions section of the website, but this is my first post in this section of the forum.

Hopefully I am posting in the correct place to find out about the above named, who is commemorated on the Perth Academy War Memorial. Below is the information I have obtained from the website of the CWGC, and a report from the Perthshire Advertiser. I have also received a number of newspaper articles from the Belfast Central Library, but unfortunately they don't add anything to the information that I already have.

Any information would be greatly appreciated.

    Many thanks,
    Dave

He enlisted in 1938 and was posted to the 8th (Belfast) Heavy Anti-Aircraft Regiment Royal Artillery. His RA Casualty card doesn't record the cause of death.
You could order a death certificate?

    Thanks for that Guy.

I have had a look at ordering it online, but a required field is relationship to the deceased. Can't leave it blank and then put something about my research in the additional info. Any ideas what I could put in the box?

I see his will is recorded in Belfast:

    Date of Grant : 29 January 1948
    Forename : John Donaldson

Perhaps there is also a death certificate there for him as well - Search GRONI's online records | nidirect

John Donaldson Grieve is my late mother's brother. He did attend Perth Academy, then situated in Rose Terrace, Perth, as did my mother who was his younger sister. He worked for Pullars of Perth as an industrial chemist before marrying my Aunt Emma whose family owned and operated the Lilliput Laundry in Dunmurray, Belfast.
